- Another Hans Christian Andersen classic
We all know how Disney films have been able to spin Hans Christian Andersen tales from the R-rated books into massive G-rated hits. Take for instance, The Little Mermaid for instance, which has been a classic since it was released. In addition, the recent blockbuster hit Frozen was also based on The Snow Queen.
It would be interesting to see how Disney could adapt The Princess and The Pea for the big screen. They could give a back story to the princess and the prince and answer questions like “Why is the princess travelling alone and got trapped in the rain?” “How could the prince just accept that he has to marry a princess after the queen tests her?”
Two of the other Hans Christian Andersen tales that could make good movie plots are The Ugly Duckling (has been an animated short) and The Girl Who Trod on the Loaf. Don’t be fooled by the latter’s weird sounding title; it is a story filled with great lessons and depth. This is why it could benefit from an amazing Disney adaptation.
