9 Pieces of College Advice I Wish I learned Four Years Ago

4. College, major picks not vital to your life

The college you pick to attend and the major you earn is not really as important as you may think! What actually is vital is what you do with that degree once you graduate and get out into the real world. Even if you pick a popular degree to earn that is supposed to be full of good jobs at good pay, nothing just gets handed to you on a golden tray! You have to work to get that job and no one is guaranteed a thing.

5. Homesickness is Going to Happen to Everyone

No matter how much you are happy to be away from your parents, everyone gets homesick from time to time. It’s normal. It’s a good idea to plan for this and be sure to bring some family photos to keep on your desk, set up a schedule where you can call or Skype with loved ones, send frequent emails and be happy that you come from a loving family who does miss you! Don’t let your friends make fun of you, they may just be jealous that your family cares about your well-being.
